Berberine half-life
Berberine is a plant alkaloid that is absorbed poorly, so only a small fraction of an oral dose ever reaches the blood. What does get in clears within hours, with a plasma half-life of roughly 4 to 8 hours, even though the compound and its metabolites linger longer in tissues such as the liver and fat and take days to fully leave the body. Because so little circulates and blood levels drop quickly, it is normally taken in divided doses across the day rather than once.
What a half-life actually means
A half-life is the time it takes for half of what is in your blood to be gone. It does not mean the compound is finished at that point. Half goes, then half of what is left goes, and so on.
