Atorvastatin is a prescription statin, and its parent drug clears the blood at a plasma half-life of roughly 14 hours. That figure understates its working duration, because atorvastatin forms active metabolites that persist longer and carry most of its pharmacological activity, stretching the effective half-life to about 20 to 30 hours.
